Genista supports the NGO Friendship
Recently, our company renewed its humanitarian commitment by supporting the NGO Friendship. Faithful to the family-oriented approach and human values that drive us, we wished to turn our solidarity into action through a €10,000 donation aimed at strengthening the association’s initiatives.
This contribution will primarily benefit the most isolated populations, who are often excluded from essential services such as healthcare, education, and access to sustainable income. The objective is to help finance Friendship’s projects to meet their fundamental needs and foster local development.
During Genista’s management board meeting, an official check was presented to Mr. Marc Elvinger, President of Friendship Luxembourg. He warmly welcomed this initiative as a valuable sign of solidarity between businesses and humanitarian actors, carrying tangible hope for beneficiaries.
Since its creation in 2002, Friendship has been working notably in Bangladesh, in extremely remote areas such as the river islands known as “chars” and coastal regions, where erosion, flooding, and a lack of infrastructure make communities vulnerable. To respond sustainably to these challenges, the NGO adopts an integrated approach covering healthcare, education, climate adaptation, economic empowerment, and poverty reduction.
Among its flagship actions, Friendship operates floating hospitals to reach riverine communities deprived of access to medical care. It also provides microfinance programs, vocational training (weaving, sewing), and market access for farmers and fishers. These initiatives enable beneficiaries not only to receive immediate assistance but also to develop stable incomes and reclaim their dignity.
At Genista, we are convinced that social responsibility is not just about words: it is measured through concrete actions. By supporting Friendship, we reaffirm our commitment to contributing to a fairer world where everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity. We hope that this gesture, modest yet sincere, will encourage other initiatives and partnerships around causes that inspire hope.
